In 1976, Pastor David Graham arrived in Toms River to assist a small congregation worshiping in a modest wooden building on First Avenue. What he encountered was not wealth, comfort, or large numbers — but faithfulness.
A handful of devoted saints welcomed him with open hearts and steadfast commitment. Through cold winters without heat, financial hardship, and seasons of building by faith, these men and women stood firm. Their prayers, sacrifices, generosity, and unwavering trust in God laid the foundation for the Holy Temple COGIC we know today.
We honor their memory with gratitude and deep appreciation. Their legacy continues to shape our ministry, our worship, and our commitment to serve this community.

Pastor | 1952–1979
Elder John Moore faithfully shepherded Holy Temple during its early years, guiding the congregation with strength, humility, and dedication. His leadership prepared the way for future growth and spiritual renewal.

First Lady | 1952–1979
Mary Moore faithfully served alongside her husband, supporting the ministry with grace, devotion, and steadfast love for the church family.
Their prayers filled the sanctuary. Their sacrifices sustained the church. Their faith carried the vision forward.
Those who came before us believed God for what they could not yet see.
Now it is our turn.
We honor their faith by:
• Remaining faithful in worship
• Giving generously
• Serving wholeheartedly
• Investing in the next generation
The legacy they began is now entrusted to us.
